SMK @ ESA 2014 Charity Marathon

I created this topic to make people aware of the fact that SMK will be played (by me) at the upcoming European Speedster Assembly (ESA), the yearly big European Speedrun-marathon event held in Skovde Sweden.

These events are organized so runners from the speedrunning community can demonstrate their gaming skill to the public via twitch streaming, have fun together and to raise donations from viewers (& participants) that will all go to a good cause (doctors without borders). In 2013 this event had a viewers peak of around 12.000 and a donation total over 10.000 Euros; in other words it will be significant exposure for SMK and its community. I will make sure to give shout-outs to the Players' Site and the CDM. 

I will be doing an All-Cups GP150cc speedrun on the NTSC-J version at around 20.10 CEST next Monday (28th of July). Note that the time is an estimate, it could be an hour or so earlier or later, depending on how the marathon goes. I am quite hyped about it and think it's really cool to be blocked together with the Super Mario World run.

Patrick & me will also race UN Squadron on the blue stream at Monday @ 6.15 in the morning.  Pierre might like this Moreover, Patrick (Meridian) will also run other games and there will be plenty of crazy speedruns to marvel at (big Super Mario 64 race for example) so make sure to check the schedule. If you can find the time, please tune in on the stream to support!

You may remember our original plan was to also run GTA V Classic% co-op (completion, no taxis and mission skips), but unfortunately the run didn't get selected as it was too early in the development of that specific speedrun and too long (~8h).  We will still continue optimizing it though, especially since the PC version is now on the horizon!

I can understand that Adrien and I still hope to see it (even if you only show a part of the run) live at CDM!

A time trial demonstration has been added to the schedule of yellow stream @ 9.30 in the morning (blocked together with Andreas Rudmarker for MKDD TTs). Its the 9.30 - 11.10 1Ls block.
I will try some VL2 island-jumping, expecting a lot of crashes.

For my SMK run I wasnt completely satisfied with a few item trick fails and not getting many items in general. General execution was decent enough for a mid 32 mins time (less than a minute behind WR) though. The highlight was probably BC3 with feather. Time Trial was pretty cool with a 1"24 RR 5-lap, a big island-jump lap on VL2 (moderate risk to increase survival rate though, so "only" 8"87) and a cool strat flap on MC1. UN Squadron race was very interesting as well until Patrick crashed in the 2nd to last lvl. And Meridians blindfold run is just SICK.

You're right, pas mal enough also @BC3 , and I enjoyed the opener on VL2 too .

Also quite shocked by the F-Zero X run, as it's the first time I see high level driving on this game !
